Functional Mates

When you add basic mates between components, related basic mates are automatically grouped into functional mates. In the design tree, you can expand the functional mates to see the basic mates they contain.

Icon Functional Mate Description

Planar. Occurs when you add a coincident mate between a plane or planar face of one component and a plane or planar face of another component.

Slider. Occurs when two components are constrained by a planar mate and you add a second coincident mate, between another plane or planar face from each of the components.

Rigid. Occurs when two components are constrained by a slider mate and you add a third coincident mate, between another plane or planar face from each of the components.

Cylindrical.

Hinge. Occurs when two components are constrained by a cylindrical mate and you add a coincident mate between planes or planar faces from each of the components.
