Moving Features Between Components

In assembly models, you can move features between component products within the assembly hierarchy.

  1. In the design tree of an assembly model, drag a feature from one product to another.

    You can drag a feature:

    • From the top-level product to a component product
    • From a component product to the top-level product
    • From one component product to another

    The Move Feature dialog box opens. The selection boxes are populated based on the feature you drag and where you drop it.
  2. Optional: Click in the selection boxes to edit the selections.

    Feature Selections. Specifies the features to move. By default, the feature you dragged is listed. You can add other features to the list by selecting them in the work area or design tree.


    Related Features. Lists other features related to the selected features. All listed features are included in the move.

    You can remove a related feature from the move by hovering over it and clicking . This action might result in dangling features, which you need to repair manually.



    Feature Destination. Specifies the product to which the selected features are being moved. By default, the product where you dropped the selected feature is listed.

    You can change the destination by selecting a different product in the work area or design tree.

  3. Optional: Set options.

    Copy Shared References. Makes copies of parent and child references that are shared with other features.

    For example, if two features are extruded from the same sketch and you move one of the features to another product, then the sketch is moved to the other product. If you want a copy of the sketch to remain in the original product, select Copy Shared References .



    Break Links. Breaks links between the selected geometry and its external references.
