Raster and Vector Formats

The following formats can be inserted in a representation:

Raster Vector
*.bmp*.cgm
*.dib*.gl
*.rle*.gl2
*.bmz*.hpgl2
*.jpg*.ps
*.jpeg*.svg
*.jfif
*.jpe
*.tif
*.tiff (if it is not LZW-compressed)

Monochrome Pictures

If you insert a monochrome picture, it is automatically set to the CCITTG3 format, which is a unique format without loss.

Orientation

You can orient a picture with respect to its sheet, view or the 2D component which contains it. The orientation of the picture is dependent upon the orientation reference and the angle related to its reference.

  • Reference: Specifies the axis system to be used to apply the orientation angle. The reference is Sheet or View/2D Component which contains the picture.

By default, pictures are created with an orientation reference set to Sheet in (even for black and white pixel images).

  • Angle: This angle is applied to the picture in the axis system of the orientation reference and it is specified in degrees.

By default, pictures are created with an orientation angle set to 0°, that is horizontal.

Picture Insertion in a Label

When a label is created using a 2D component containing a picture, the orientation reference is changed to View/2D Component and the angle remains unchanged.

Picture Transformation

Pictures can be transformed using Translate, Rotate, Scale, Symmetry or Mirror commands.

Note: When using Symmetry or Mirror command for pictures, pictures are not flipped, only their position and orientation is modified. However, their visualization may appear flipped when they are contained in a 2D component instance which is flipped.
