Multiple Instantiation From a List of Points

You can create numerous 2D component instances using a list of points as 2D component origin points. In an active view, you can select 2D, 3D or generated points:

  • Before starting the command: by single point selection, trap selection (only before a detail sheet component instantiation).
  • During command execution: by single point selection, selection set or via Find.
In this scenario, you will create multiple 2D component instances from a detail sheet, using a trap selection before you start the command.

Before you begin: In a drawing representation, create a 2D component reference.

About 2D Components
  1. Double-click the view in which you want to instantiate the 2D component.
    This view is now active.
  2. From the Sketch section of the action bar, double-click Point , and insert a few points in the view.

  3. Press Esc to finish point creation.
  4. Select all the points (you can trap them using the pointer).

Tip: Selection of points can be done by direct selection, using a selection set, or use Find... command from Me > Preferences > Customize > Commands section.
  5. Click Instantiate 2D Component .
  6. In the tree, click the 2D component in the detail sheet Sheet.2 (Detail).

The 2D component instances appear in the view and simultaneously the Tools Palette appears to let you define the type and properties common for all these new instances.

  7. For this scenario, click Link with detail .
Component instances are created using each selected point as an origin.

  8. Click in the sheet to end the creation.
Handles appear. If needed, define a scale for each 2D component instance manually.

    Important:
    • The trap selection of a list of points is not available when creating a 2D component from a catalog.
    • These points are not associative with the 2D component instances.
    • All 2D component instances created from a list of points have the same properties (angle, scale...), except for their origin points.
