3DEXPERIENCE Preferences

The preferences in the 3DEXPERIENCE of the dialog box modify saving and checking out of files. You must be logged into 3DEXPERIENCE to view or change these preferences.

To access this page:

  1. From the Altium Designer menu, select 3DEXPERIENCE > Show Preferences..
  2. In the preferences tree, click 3DEXPERIENCE.
  3. If not logged in, the app displays the login dialog box. For more information, see Logging Into 3DEXPERIENCE.

3DEXPERIENCE Options

To access these settings, click 3DEXPERIENCE Options in the preferences tree. Click the tab for the settings you want to set.

Open Tab SettingsDescription
Select Checkout DirectoryClick Browse to navigate to the directory where you want files checked out to.
Document Iteration

When checking out a document, defines which revision of the document:

Option Description
LatestRevision Finds the latest revisions of the selected node and its underlying structure.
Latest Released Revision Finds the latest released revision of the selected node and its underlying structure. If no object is in the Released state, then the latest revision of the object is displayed.
Latest In Work Revision Finds the latest Revision Iteration that is in the In Work state.
Latest Frozen Revision Finds the latest revision that is in the Frozen state.
As Built Provides the precise structure stored in 3DEXPERIENCE, but shows the new iteration of the object as a child if it exists in 3DEXPERIENCE
As SavedReplicates the exact structure saved in 3DEXPERIENCE.

Default ViewFrom the list, select a table view for use during checkout.
Default Expand LevelWhen a part is opened in 3DEXPERIENCE, the number levels to automatically expand. You can change the expansion after the structure opens.
Lock Object on CheckoutSelect the check box to lock the CAD object in 3DEXPERIENCE when you check it out.

Save Tab SettingsDescription
Default ViewFrom the list, select a table view for use during save operations.
Default View WorkspaceFrom the list, select a view for use in the Workspace.
Select ChildrenWhen selected, all children of root items are automatically selected for save operations.
Retain Lock After CheckinWhen selected, the CAD object continues to be locked in 3DEXPERIENCE after you check in a file.
Create Iteration on CheckinWhen selected, the app creates a new iteration of the CAD object under the current revision whenever you check in the design.

If not selected, new iterations are not created at check-in, and the design overwrites the current revision in 3DEXPERIENCE.

For new objects, this check box is ignored and 3DEXPERIENCE automatically creates a new iteration.

Close Dialog after successful saveWhen selected, the app automatically closes the save dialog box when successfully completed.

For the Derived Outputs tab, derived outputs are automatically detected when you save as part of creating an output in Altium Designer. The name of the output job must match the project name to be detected by the Connector for Altium Designer. The derived output is shown on the Save dialog box and you can select or clear the checkbox to be considered during Save operation. Selecting the checkbox creates derived outputs that are included with the Altium design to be saved in 3DEXPERIENCE.

Default ViewFrom the list, select a view for use when viewing details.

Search Settings

To access these settings, click Search Settings in the preferences tree.

Search SettingsDescription
Search LimitEnter an integer to limit how many objects are found when searching.
Show Non-Integration ObjectsWhen selected, shows all objects not assigned to Connector for Altium Designer. You can find these objects in a workspace search. For more information, see Use the My Workspaces Tab.

EFCS File Synchronization

To access these settings, click EFCS File Synchronization in the preferences tree.

Select one of the options.

EFCS File Synchronization SettingsDescription
Never Synchronize FilesThe app stops the checkout process if any data being checked out is located on an EFCS server.
Always Synchronize FilesData on an EFCS server is always synchronized during checkout.
Ask UserYou will be prompted at checkout if data on an EFCS server requires synchronization.
