Searching for Documents

You can search for CAD objects and documents stored in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

  1. Open the Search dialog box.

    You can start the search from these locations:

    • From the Open from 3DEPXERIENCE dialog box, use the General Search tab.
    • From the Register Documents tab in the Setup Project for 3DEPXERIENCE dialog box, click .

  2. To use an existing query, click Queries. You can start entering the name of the query to filter the list. Select the required query and click Open.
  3. Enter search criteria in any of the fields. If you opened a query, you can further refine the search by entering additional search criteria.

    Case SensitiveSelect the check box to enforce a case-sensitive search. Clear the check box to allow a case-insensitive search.
    LimitEnter an integer to limit the results to that number of documents.
    TypeClick to select the required type of document.
    NameEnter the name of the design, or use the * wildcard character.
    RevisionEnter a revision level, or use the * wildcard character.
    Latest RevSelect the check box to restrict the results to only the latest revision of a design.
    StateClick to select lifecycle states to limit the results to designs in the selected states.
    VaultClick to select a vault where the design is stored.
    OwnerClick to select a person. The search restricts the results to designs owned by that person.

    The Search for Persons dialog box lets you select from a list of persons, or enter criteria to find the required person based on these attributes:

    User NameEnter one, a comma-separated list of user names, or the * wildcard.
    Last NameEnter text. The * wildcard is supported.
    First NameEnter text. The * wildcard is supported.
    OrganizationEnter one, a comma-separated list of organizations, or the * wildcard.

    If you enter search criteria, click Search to shorten the list to matching users. Select the required person and click Add.

  4. Click Search.
    The app loads the objects that meet the search criteria. You can continue to refine the search criteria and click Search until you find the required object.
  5. To change the columns shown in the results table, select an item from the View list and click View.
  6. To save the search criteria as a query for future use, click Queries. Enter a name for your query and click Save.
  7. To assign a PCB document to the bareboard document, select it and click Assign.
