Analyzing Threads and Taps

You can analyze threads and taps of the active product.


Before you begin: Open an assembly of 3D shapes containing Part Design app thread and tap features.
  1. From the Assembly section of the action bar, click Threads and Taps Analysis .

    • The active product is analyzed.
    • When opening an assembly, the default active product is the root product of the assembly. To change the current active product, double-click another product.

    The Thread/Tap Analysis dialog box appears.

    By default Show symbolic geometry and Show numerical value options are selected.

    These options allow you to show thread and tap symbolic representations respectively in the 3D area: magenta-colored for taps, cyan-colored for threads.

  2. Click Apply in the dialog box.
    • The number of visible threads is displayed in the dialog box.
    • The number of visible taps is displayed in the dialog box.
    • Thread and tap representations are colored in the 3D area.
    • Thread and tap dimensions are displayed on representations.
  3. Click More>> in the dialog box.
    The Filter section allows you to refine the analysis:
    • Show thread displays threads in the 3D area.
    • Show tap displays taps in the 3D area.
    • Diameter displays the thread or tap corresponding to the specified Value.
  4. Clear Show thread, and click Apply.
    Only taps are displayed in the 3D area and the number of visible threads is updated.
  5. Select Diameter, and type 12 in the Value box, and click Apply.
    Only taps with a diameter of 12 are displayed in the 3D area, and the number of visible taps is updated.
  6. Click OK in the Thread/Tap Analysis dialog box.
