Creating an Assembly Symmetry

Assembly symmetry allows you to create a symmetric product from an existing one.

Before you begin: Open an existing assembly.
  1. From the Assembly section of the action bar, click Assembly Symmetry .
On the right side of the 3D area, the Assembly Symmetry panel displays symmetry options. Click the Unpin arrow if needed to display the options.
  2. Select the original component out of the root product.
  3. Select a plane or planar surface to define the symmetry.

The mouse cursor changes when hovering over a plane: .

    • The original component is colorized as its original reference.
    • The symmetric component is pre-visualized and colorized as its symmetric reference.

By default, a new component is created if you do not change the option in the context toolbar:

    • A context toolbar appears and suggests options for the symmetric component
  4. Click anywhere in the 3D area to validate. The cursor looks like this .
    The assembly symmetry is created.
  5. From the standard area of the action bar, click Update .
