Saving and Retrieving a Scenario

Assembly Experience content is stored in scenarios. If you want to re-use a scenario that you have created, you must first save it. If you want to work with an existing scenario, you must retrieve it.

Note: In authoring mode, you cannot display the specification tree (F3 is not available). In review mode, you can display the tree using F3, and you can edit the displayed objects (rename the PPR Context, for example).

Save a Scenario (Authoring Mode)

To re-use a scenario that you have created, you must first save it.

Before you begin: This task is illustrated with a scenario whose filmstrip contains some operations.
  1. Create the scenario in Assembly Experience.


  2. Select Share > Save > Save.
    The Save dialog box appears.

    A message appears briefly in the upper-right corner of the main window indicating that you are exiting authoring mode.

  3. Click OK.
    When competed, the Save box appears, showing the status.
  4. Click Assembly Experience in the action bar to switch back to authoring mode.

Rename and Save a Scenario (Review Mode)

To re-use a scenario that you have created, you must first save it.

Before you begin: This task is illustrated with a scenario whose filmstrip contains some operations.
  1. Open the scenario in Assembly Experience.
  2. Click Assembly Experience in the action bar to switch to review mode.
  3. Press F3 to bring up the view of the PPR tree.


  4. To rename the scenario, right-click the PPR Context in the tree and select Properties.
  5. In the Part Number field, enter the required name, and click OK.
    The new name appears on the PPR tree.
    Note: You can press F3 to hide the PPR tree.
  6. Select Share > Save > Save
    The Save dialog box appears.
  7. Click OK.
    When competed, the Save dialog box appears, showing the status.
  8. Click Assembly Experience in the action bar to switch back to authoring mode.

Retrieve a Scenario

To work with an existing scenario, you must first retrieve it.

  1. Search for a PPR Context using the predefined search string ppr: searchstring.
  2. Click the required PPR Context and Open (you can also use Ctrl+O).
    The scenario opens in the state it was in before being saved (except for the viewpoint).
