Accessing Scientific Notebook Experiments

You can access all your experiments from the All Experiments page on the Scientific Notebook Home page or from automatically generated search results. You can only access experiments in projects for which you have access rights. For more information, see Projects.

This task shows you how to:

Access Experiments from a List

You can access all your experiments from the All Experiments page.

  1. In the All Experiments page, choose how to filter the experiments listed.
    • All - displays all experiments to which you have access, owned any Scientific Notebook user.
    • Recent Experiments - displays experiments you have recently viewed.
    • My Recent Experiments - displays only experiments owned by you.
    • Only Workbook Experiments - displays only experiments imported from BIOVIA Workbook.
    • Only Notebook Experiments - displays only experiments imported from BIOVIA Notebook.

    Tip: You can use 6WTags to filter the list of experiments.

  2. Choose how to display the filtered experiments.
    OptionDescription
    Displays the experiments in a Thumbnail View.
    Displays the experiments in a Tile View.
    Displays the experiments in a Table View.
  3. Optional: For any experiment, click its row, thumbnail, or tile to open the Experiment page.

  4. Optional: For any experiment, right-click its row, thumbnail, or card and choose how to access it:

    Open Opens the experiment in its source application. This is only available for imported experiments.
    Open Opens the Experiment page where you can edit the experiment. This is not available for imported experiments.
    Preview Opens the Preview pane in the Home page, where you can review all the details of the experiment.
  5. Optional: For any experiment in the Table View, click in the Menu column and choose how to access it:

    Open Opens the experiment in its source application. This is only available for imported experiments.
    Open Opens the Experiment page where you can edit the experiment. This is not available for imported experiments.
    Preview Opens the Preview pane in the Home page, where you can review all the details of the experiment.

The selected experiment opens in the view of your choice.

Filter and Open Experiments

You can view the results of an automatic search, filter the experiments, and open the experiment you want.

  1. From the Scientific Notebook home page, click Open.
    The results shows all experiments that you can access.
  2. Use the 6WTags to filter the search results.
  3. Select the experiment you require.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Click and select Preview to open a preview in 3DSearch. You can review the details of the experiment and step through all results using and .
    • Select the experiment you require and click OK to open the experiment. Scientific Notebook experiments open in the app. Imported experiments open in their source application in a separate tab of your browser.
