Describing the Experiment

You can edit the write-up and basic information for an experiment.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: You can only edit an experiment if you have the appropriate access.

Update an Experiment

You can update the basic definition of an experiment after its creation.

  1. In the Experiment Page, click Properties.
    Basic Information displays the key experiment definitions.
  2. Edit the experiment properties as required.

    Note: You can edit all the same information as during experiment creation except for the Experiment Type.
    Tip: Click and select Maximize to expand the Properties pane. Click to return to the standard experiment layout.

Updates to the experiment properties save automatically.

Write-Up the Experiment

You can use the Write-Up pane to design your experiment.

  1. In the Write-Up pane, click .

    Describe the section of your experiment, for example, a preparation procedure.

    • To give the section a name, select Title and then enter the name.
    • Use the actions on the floating toolbar to format your text, create links, attach files, and search for previously entered content.
    • To insert a material from the Materials pane table, type @ and select the material you require or begin typing its name to filter the list.
    • Attach files to the section as required. For more information, see Working with File Attachments.

  2. To insert another section, click again.

    Tip: To remove a section, click for the section.
