Create a New Experiment Page

The Create a new experiment page allows you to define the basic information required to identify and start an experiment.

This page collects the following information about your experiment.

Field Description
Title An experiment title that you provide.
Experiment ID The experiment identifier that Scientific Notebook automatically generates.
Scientist The person responsible for the experiment—by default, this person is you.
Project The name of the project for which you are creating the experiment. A user with the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Administrator role must use the Projects Configuration page to set up the available projects. The project that you select can impact the values available in the other fields on this page.
Notes:
  • You can select only one project for an experiment.
  • You can only create experiments in projects for which you have create rights. For more information, see Projects.

Scientific Notebook appends the experiment type to the project name to create a default experiment objective.

Experiment Type

The type of experiment. The default experiment types are:

  • Generic - provides access to the Write-Up and Materials panes.
  • Formulation - provides access to Write-Up and Formulation panes.
  • Synthetic Chemistry - provides access to Write-Up, Reaction Scheme, and Stoichiometry panes.

A user with the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Administrator role can use the Experiment Types Configuration page to set up additional experiment types and control the availability of custom experiment types.

Scientific Notebook appends the experiment type to the project to create a default experiment objective.

Business Unit, Department, and Plant The organizational entities for which you created the experiment. The available values are configured in the Collaboration and Approvals app. For more information, see Defining Your Company.
GMP Whether the experiment must comply with GMP regulations. This field is for information purposes, only. It has no impact on how Scientific Notebook processes the experiment.
Method The method ID.
