Running an Interference Analysis

You can run an interference analysis between bars of different rebar layers (globally) or within a single rebar layer (locally). The Rebar Interference command can be accessed directly from the Rebar creation command (Interference tab) or from the Reinforcement section of theaction bar.

This task shows you how to:

Check Interferences From the Rebar Interference Command

  1. From the Reinforcement section of the action bar, click Rebar Interference .
  2. Select a rebar layer.
  3. Select the interference computation mode
    • Between components: To compute interference between rebar layers.
    • Inside component : To compute interferences inside a rebar layer.

    You can select both modes.

  4. Optional: Select the second set that can be the concrete part (surface or solid) or another rebar.
Whether you need to select the second set depends on the first set configuration and can be optional.
    • If the first set contains at least one rebar layer and the option to compute interference inside rebar layers is selected.
    • If the first set contains at least two rebar layers and the option to compute interference between rebar layers is selected
  5. Select the Automatically add new bars to this set check box
  6. Adjust the interference parameters. By default, only the clash and contact issues are detected. Select a specific parameter or combine several parameters:
    • Cover Thickness: Is the clearance value for other elements. This value can be negative, in this case it is considered as a penetration depth (can be time consuming).
    • Rebar Clearance: Is the clearance for rebar layers.
    • Minimum diameter : Use it to ignore small bars during the computation.
  7. Select a computation mode.

Check Interferences From the Rebar Creation Command

  1. From the Interference tab in the Rebar Creation dialog box, click Create Rebar Interference. If no interference analysis was previously run, the Rebar Interference Edit option is not available and thus grayed out.
  2. Edit the interference analysis clicking .
  3. Modify the second set if necessary.
  4. Adjust interferences parameters accordingly.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Close the warning message.
  7. Diagnose the clash issues by zooming the bars.
  8. Click Ok.
  9. Remove the rebar interference analysis clicking .
  10. Edit the rebar layer.

Navigate the Interferences

  1. Click the buttons to navigate the interferences.
  2. Filter the interferences types that are displayed using the Filter option.
  3. Use the numbered pages to display only the clash you are interested in.
