Creating a Shaft

Shaft lets you add a vertical space that passes through multiple stories using the Shaft command. The command is useful for creating shafts such as piping and air duct shafts and multiple story atrium spaces.

  1. To sketch the shaft
    1. From the Building section of the action bar, click Positioned Sketch .

      Note: You can create a sketch using Sketcher.

    2. In the 3D area, sketch the shaft.
    3. In the Sketcher app, in the Sketch section of the action bar, click Exit App .
  2. From the Building section, click Shaft .
  3. From the Shaft dialog box, click Profile .
  4. In the 3D area, click the sketch of the shaft.
  5. To change the shaft height, in the 3D area, drag the Height handle to the desired height.

    Alternatively, enter the height in the value box.

  6. To remove walls from the shaft, from the Shaft dialog box, click Remove Walls .

    Remove Walls is a toggle. The toggle is highlighted when the shaft walls are removed.

  7. To change the number of stories in the shaft, in Number of stories, enter or select your entry.
  8. To change the elevation for the bottom of the shaft, in Starting Story, select a story.
  9. In Extend Downward, enter the distance by which the walls of the shaft extend downward beyond the bottom of the primary slab of the starting story.
  10. Click .
  11. To move or rotate the shaft:
    1. Click the shaft.
    2. Use the Robot to manipulate the shaft.
