Footings are the base of a building, making up the bottom part of the foundation. They are usually concrete with steel reinforcements. The thickness and width of an individual footing varies with the weight the footing must carry.
Buildings and Civil Structures Design supports these footings:
- Isolated Footing - This footing serves as a column base. With Buildings and Civil Structures Design, you can create one or more isolated footings. Or, you can simultaneously create an isolated footing for all internal column base locations.
- Strip Footing - This footing is a linear element that transfers loads into the ground from a load-bearing wall or from a series of elements such as columns.
- User Defined Footing - With this footing option you can create a sketch or solid for a footing and determine a different layout for the footings. This option is useful for creating mat (raft) footings and stepped footings.
