Tip Explanation
Activate the appropriate story To hide the geometry of the upper stories, before beginning to add a structural element, activate the story where you want to locate the specific element.

For example, to add a structural member on story three of an eight-story building, activate Story 3.

Use Section View To obtain a better view of the grid segments where you want to add one or more structure elements, from the View section of the action bar click Section View.

With the Section View command, you can add or remove a section plane as well as reposition a plane or move it. For example, Section View works well when adding a catalog brace to an interior column on a specific story.

Use Visibility Options To hide or show the geometry, from the structural member dialog box, click Visibility Options and select the check boxes for the geometry you want to hide.

With Visibility Options, you can show or hide slabs, grid points, and grid segments. The check box options are dependent on the member type you are adding and whether you created the grid with or without a mass.
