Adding an Isolated Footing

You can create one or more isolated footings to your project.

  1. From the Concrete section of the action bar, click Isolated Footing .
  2. From the Shape option, choose the isolated footing shape.
    • For circular, click Round .
    • For square, click Square .
    • For rectangular, click Rectangle .
  3. Complete the isolated footing dimensions.

For isolated footing shape: Click to specify the required dimension:
    Round Diameter and Depth
    Square Length and Depth
    Rectangle Length, Width, and Depth

  4. To position the isolated footing on a grid, click Position on Grid .
  5. To position the isolated footing on a wire, click Position on Wire and select one or more wires.
  6. To create an isolated footing in a new geometrical set, select the Create in a new geometrical set check box.
  7. To specify the footing location, in the Isolated Footing dialog box, from Create Mode, click one of the following:
    OptionDescription
Single Inserts a single isolated footing on the selected segment.
    Along gridline

Inserts isolated footings along the gridline of the selected segments.
All in story Inserts isolated footings at the bottom of all internal column locations in the structural grid.
  8. To change the grid segment that defines the zero angle orientation for the isolated footing, in the Isolated Footing dialog box, click either of the following:
    • Snap Rotation
    • Snap Rotation

For an isolated footing, the zero angle orientation is the base orientation to which the rotation is applied. Use this option to reorient the isolated footing. The isolated footing reorients until it bisects the angle between grid segments, or is tangent or perpendicular to adjacent grid segments at the base of the isolated footing.

This option is useful when the grid segements are not orthogonal or curved.

  9. In the Rotation box, specify the required rotation angle to rotate the footing counterclockwise about its length.
  10. To change the isolated footing default characteristics, expand Options.

If you position the footing on a wire, perform the following steps:

    1. U Offset, specify the required offset for the X coordinate.
    2. V Offset, specify the required offset for the Y coordinate.
    3. Vertical Offset, specify the required offset value for the Z coordinate.

If you position the footing on a grid, perform the following steps:

    1. U Offset, specify the required offset to translate the footing in the U direction.
    2. V Offset, specify the required offset to translate the footing in the V direction.
    3. Vertical Offset, specify the required offset value to translate the footing in the vertical direction.
  11. If you position the footing on a grid, expand Grid Segement Display and in the Grids to Display box, specify the grid segments and grid points.

Select the following check boxes according to the requirement.

    Option Description
Show perimeter grid segments Displays grid segments and points on the perimeter of the structural grid.
Show interior grid segements Displays grid segments and points in the interior of the structural grid.

  12. In the 3D area, click a point on the structural grid where you want to place an isolated footing.
  13. Click OK.

The isolated footing or footings are created.
