Adding a User Defined Footing

You can add a footing of your own design using a solid or a sketch as the basis for the footing.

This task shows you how to:

Create a Footing with a Solid

You can use a solid as the basis of the user defined footing.

To create a sketch of the footing:
1. From the Foundation section of the action bar, click Positioned Sketch .
  
  Note: You can create a sketch using Sketcher.
2. In the 3D area, create a sketch.
3. In the Sketcher app, in the Sketch section of the action bar, click Exit App .
If you have a structural grid, use it to determine the sketch location.
To create a solid footing from the sketch:
1. From the 3D area, click the sketch.
2. Use one of the commands from the Geometry section to convert the sketch to a solid.
  For example, use Pad .
  Note: When using Pad, pad downward, reversing the direction of the pad, if necessary.
From the Foundation section, click User Defined Footing .
From the 3D area, click the footing solid.
From the User Defined Footing dialog box, click .

You can create a footing only based on a sketch.

Create a sketch using the Rectangle or Line from the Structure section of the action bar.
If you have a structural grid, use it to determine the sketch location.
From the Foundation section of the action bar, click User Defined Footing .
From the 3D area, click the sketch.
Drag the thickness handle to desired thickness.
Alternatively, enter the thickness in the value box.
From the User Defined Footing dialog box, click OK.
