Before you begin:
-
Ensure that you have a valid license to use Structural Scenario Creation app.
-
Create a structural grid, which can be either a Building Grid or a Reference Plane
Grid.
-
Add catalog columns, beams, braces, and beam pattern.
-
From the Steel section of the action bar, click Generate Simulation Model
.
-
In the Generate Simulation Model dialog box, from
Include, select a member.
Option | Description |
---|
Include linear members |
Exports all linear members in the model, such as beams, columns, and
braces. |
Include slabs |
Exports all building slabs in the model. |
Include structural plates |
Exports all the structural plates in the model. |
Include structural walls |
Exports all the structural walls in the model |
-
In the Mesh Size 1D box, specify the global size of the 1D
mesh.
-
In the the Mesh Size 2D box, specify the global size of the 2D
mesh.
You can change the mesh sizes in Structural Scenario Creation app while doing the analyses.
-
Select the Automatic mesh capture check box to specify the
external meshes needed to be captured.
Note:
In the Tolerance box, specify the maximum distance for mesh
capture.
-
Select the Create connections automatically check box to create
kinematic coupling between the nodes that are within the specified tolerance but are not
coincident.
Note:
In the Tolerance box, specify the maximum distance between
the nodes to be connected using a coupling.
-
Click OK.
A new tab opens with the mesh simulation model in SIMULIA
Structural Scenario Creation, where you can perform the simulation analyses such as Buckle-Step Analysis. During the
mesh generation, the slabs in the mass are converted to elastic 2D plates, so that you can
perform analyses on the slabs as well as the steel structural members. Note:
The wall
needs to be marked as a structural wall before generating a simulation model for
it.
