About Updating

The Update Building command, located in the standard area of the action bar, updates the building project to reflect your work in the 3D area.

Update Building is active whenever the building model needs updating to reflect your most recent work. The command is inactive when the building model and the 3D area are synchronized. Red elements in the 3D area are another indicator that the building model needs updating.

Although the building model needs updating, you can continue to design. In fact, to speed up the design process, avoid frequent updates while in the middle of designing a feature. For example, if you are adding elevators or curtain walls that span multiple floors, you may want to make all the changes before using the Update command. Position the elevator in the desired location or make all the curtain wall adjustments before you click Update Building .
