Copying BIM attribute Extensions

You can copy extensions and their attribute values from one source object to one or more target objects.


Before you begin:
  • Add all the extensions you need for the source object.
  • Enter and modify the source objects attribute values as needed.

Searching for Objects
  1. From the section of the action bar, click BIM Attributes .
  2. In the tree, click the source object.
  3. Either:
    • Press Control and in the tree, select each target object.
    • Perform a BIM attributes Search in the BIM Attributes panel to locate the target objects.
  4. Identify the target object as follows:
    1. From the BIM Attributes panel, click Show Product List .
    2. From Object List, select the target.
    3. Click Copy Type.

      Note: Copy Type copies the type from the source object to all the target objects.

  5. Click Copy Extensions.
  6. Select either:
    OptionDescription
    Copy all extensions Copies all extensions from the source to the targets. If the targets are missing one or more of the target extensions, the system copies the extensions to the target along with the source attribute values.
    Important: If the target already has attribute values for any extensions, the system retains those target values; it does not overwrite current target attribute values with source attribute values.
    Copy selected extensions Copies the extensions that you select. When you select this option:
    1. Select the check box for each extension you want to copy from the source to the target.
    2. Clear the check boxes for any attributes values that you want to omit from the copy. For example, to retain the Elevation value for each target, clear the check box for Elevation.
    Tip: Some extensions have two check boxes.
    • To see a full list of the extension attributes, select the extension check box on the left.
    • To copy the extensions attributes, select the extension check box on the right.
  7. Click .

The system copies the extensions from the source object to the target objects.
