About Material Types

A material with a composition that is defined by a formulation recipe. You can create a formulated material in Formulation Design.

A material that you can acquire from an internal or external supplier. Sourced materials usually include information that describes their composition, which is defined by one or more substance constituents.

A group of sourced or formulated materials that all share common values, such as the same functional role or similar constituency.

For unified materials, the Members section in the material details displays a list of all materials that are part of the unified material.

For Sourced and Formulated materials, the Is a Member of section in the material details displays all unified materials that contain that material.
