Creating a Substance

You can create a new substance to register with Materials Registration.

Before you begin:

If you only have the Formulation Designer role or Laboratory Reviewer role, you can only view substances.

  1. On the Materials Registration home page, click Create New Substance.
  2. On the Create New Substance page, define the substance.

The Substance Type affects the fields available to define the substance.

For cell lines, the system generates an identification based on the tissue source type and species information you enter. This label has the "TSO-" prefix.

  3. Optional: Register substances from an SDfile, CSV file, or XLSX file.
    1. Select Register from file.
    2. Drop the substance file into the drop area or click Browse to select the file.
A preview of the file contents opens in a Datagrid view.

A warning symbol displays if there are attributes that Materials Registration cannot register if you submit the file. Click on the warning symbol to view the list of affected attributes.

    3. Click Submit to register the substances or Cancel to cancel the file registration.
  4. Optional: Under Assigned Identifier, click to add an identifier provided by an external authority, such as CAS or ATCC.
  5. Click Submit.
