Managing the Application Cache

The Expert User must manage the application cache because some DPC commands manage files (.CATNls, .CATRsc and icons) that must be saved on your machine. For these files to be automatically saved at the appropriate location, an Application Cache is needed. This application Cache will be automatically generated when using CATIA with an environment that does not include it. Then you will be prompted to use a new CATIA environment generated in the same time and accessible through a new icon on your desktop.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: The cache is located in the directory My Documents.
Notes:
  • The expert user may need to create dialog boxes or operations with which he may want to associate icons. In these cases, he must import the associated .CATNls, icons, and .CATRsc files manually.
  • The cache is the directory EnvName _WithAppliCache (EnvName being the environment name) located in My Documents under Windows and $HOME under Unix.
  • If you decide to clean the application cache, all files are removed from the cache.
  • A warning message appears when there is no application cache. Three workbenches are affected: Applicative Portfolio, User Interface Design and Automated Design Process. It is also the case when starting from the PLM New dialog box: stand-alone Knowledge applicative entities (Knowledge applicative configuration, Knowledge application and Knowledge applicative component) and standard Knowledge applicative configuration are affected when there is no cache.
