Managing Attributes

You can add attributes to the types you created and edit their values after their creation. There are two types of attributes:

  • The input attributes directly linked to the technological type defining its dimensions for example
  • The neutral attributes used by the operations to create a link between these operations.

This task shows you how to:

Create an Attribute

You can add attributes to the types you created.

  1. In the tree, click the type (here Skate) to which you want to add an attribute and click Add Attribute ( ).
    1. In the Name field, enter SkateWidth.
    2. From the Quality list, select Input.
    3. Select the Length type from the Parameter Type list.
    • Pointer: Points to a feature or object.
    • Parameter: Shows the type of the attribute (variable). The types displayed in this list are identical to those available in the Engineering Rules Capture app.
    • List: Enables you to create lists of points, lines, objects...
  2. Click OK when done. The attribute appears in the Local attributes list.

Important:
  • The number of attributes added to a technological object is not limited.
  • An attribute name cannot be modified after its creation. To modify it, delete it and create an attribute.
  • An attribute name can only be made up of alphanumeric characters.
  • Subtypes inherit the attributes from their super types.
  • The attribute is added to the current type whatever the active tab.

Edit an Attribute

You can add values to an attribute after creating it using the Add Multiple Values command thus avoiding to delete this attribute and re-create it when you want to add values.

  1. Select the attribute in the Local attributes frame.
  2. Right-click the Value box in the Attribute value field and select Add Multiple Values.
    The Value list dialog box opens.
  3. Enter the values you want to add to the attribute and click OK when done.
    The attribute has now different values.
