Publishing Objects

You can assign an object type to an object and publish it. You can use Publish along with other Component Based Design commands such as Define Component, Define Specification, and Change Level of Development. Before you begin: In the 3D area, create a feature.
  1. From the Building section of the action bar, click Publish .
  2. From the 3D area or tree, select an object. For example, select a wall.
    The selected object is listed in the Create Publications dialog box.
  3. To set a new object type:
    1. In the Create Publications dialog box, under Object, select an object from the list.

      Note: At one time, only one type of object can be selected.

    2. Under Object Type, select a corresponding object type. For example, if the object is a wall, you can select a sandwich wall object type.

      You can set the object type for individual objects in the list from Object Type.

    3. To set an object type to all the objects in the list, select an object type from All Available Types.
    4. To remove an object type, under Object Type, select Remove Object Type.
    5. In the Create Publications dialog box, click Publish.

    Tip: To change the name of a publication, select the publication in the tree, and in the context toolbar, click Rename a Publication .

  4. To remove a selected object from the list, in the Create Publications dialog box, click Remove Object from List.
  5. To remove object types from all the objects in the list, in the Create Publications dialog box, click Remove Object Type from All.
  6. To delete a publication:
    1. In the Create Publications dialog box, under Object, select an object in the list.
    2. Click Remove Publication.
  7. To add more object types:
    1. In the Create Publications dialog box, click More Types.
    2. In the Import dialog box, select a 3DXML file.
    3. Click Open.
    The system adds the selected object type under Object Type.

The 3D area displays the published object with the selected object type. The publication is added to the tree, under Publication.
