Creating Coping

You can create detail cuts on the structure objects that are clashed with other objects, by removing the clashed volume.

  1. From the Detail section of the action bar, click Coping .
  2. In the Coping panel, specify inputs for the coping operation.

    • Base objects: Select the structure objects that need coping. You can select panels, plates, profiles, and the objects with building and civil structure types.
      Note: The exposed split plates are not selectable.
    • Removed operands: Select the objects that are clashed with the structure objects. You can select any 2D or 3D objects.
      Note: You must select only mono-domain objects.

  3. Click Compute .
    The clashed pairs of the structure objects and removed operands are listed in the panel, and the Coping and To Do columns are updated as follows:
    CopingTo DoDescription
    --UpdateCoping does not exist. New coping will be created.
    Coping_Name-Coping already exists and is up to date.
    Coping_NameDeleteExisting coping is broken and has update error. Delete the coping using Delete .
  4. Select the check boxes of the required rows and click Update .
    The coping creation process starts. A progress bar displays the progress of the coping operation. The Coping and To Do columns are updated as follows:
    CopingTo DoDescription
    Coping_Name-Coping is created successfully.
    Coping_NameDeleteUpdate error. Delete the coping using Delete .
  5. Optional: To delete coping, select the required rows and click Delete .

Note: When the coping result is multidomain, the biggest volume of the base object after coping is considered as the coping result. If the volumes are exactly similar, an update error occurs.
Tip: You can also create coping using the context toolbar.
  1. Select a structure object in the 3D area or the tree, and click Coping on the context toolbar.
  2. Select an operand object clashed with the structure object.

    Coping is created with the selected operand object.

  3. Keep on selecting the operand objects clashed with the structure object.

    Coping is performed using each selected operand.

  4. After the coping operation is done, click Complete or press Esc.
