Replacing by Duplicate

You can create a duplicate of a product and replace the existing component by its duplicate.

Important: By default, this command is not displayed. To display this command, select the Replace by Duplicate option in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling >Systems Architecture > Product Structure Design > Commands.

Before you begin: Select one or several products.
Note: If a product has parts or product children, they are not duplicated by default. To duplicate the children, multiselect them.
  1. From the section of the action bar, click Duplicate and Replace .

    Tip: This command is also available from the context menu.
    Note: Undo/Redo actions are not supported for this command.

    A dialog box appears. It shows the preview of the products to be duplicated and replaced.
  2. To add children of the selected products, select the Recursively add children for duplication check box.

    Note: By default, the name of the duplicated product is Copy of, followed by the name of the existing component. You can change the name in this dialog box.

The product is duplicated in the database.

Warning: The instance name (displayed in the Properties dialog box) is not updated. The previous instance name is kept.
