Breadcrumb Selections

You can use breadcrumbs as a pictorial representation of the parent child relationships in your design. The breadcrumbs display the geometric hierarchy of the current selection.

Open Commands with Breadcrumbs

You can select a breadcrumb and run appropriate commands from a context toolbar.

Breadcrumbs display in the lower-left corner of the 3D area.

By using breadcrumbs to select objects, you can keep the design tree collapsed, to increase the size of your 3D area.

  • When you click an element in the breadcrumb, a context toolbar displays commands that are related to your selection. For example:

    Right-click the element and the expaned context toolbar displays.
  • When you click a Product , 3DShape, , or Ordered Geometrical Set in the breadcrumb, a context toolbar displays commands that are related to your selection. For example:

  • Double-click an object in the breadcrumb or in the assembly to open the object for editing. Click Return to Root Product to apply the changes and close the editing mode.

Click in the empty graphics area or press the Esc key to hide the breadcrumbs.

Breadcrumb Visibility of Other Components

You can hide the other components in the 3D area when using the breadcrumb editing feature.

Click Set Opacity to hide or specify the level of visibility of the other component in the 3D area.

Hides the other components.
Displays all the other components.
Displays a slider to specify the opacity of the other components.
Selection behaviors
Transparent geometry can only be selected if there is nothing behind it.
All opaque geometry that is behind the transparent geometry is selectable as if the transparent geometry is hidden.

Relocating the Breadcrumbs

You can relocate the breadcrumbs to your cursor using a keyboard shortcut.

Move the breadcrumbs from its original position to your pointer by pressing d on your keyboard. The breadcrumbs moved to the cursor.

The complete Breadcrumbs display move to your cursor location in the 3D area.

If d is pressed again, the breadcrumbs move back to its original position.
