Diagnosing a Sketch

You can repair an over-defined sketch using the Sketch Diagnostics Tool.

This task shows you how to:

Context: When conflicting or repetitive constraints exist in a sketch, the over-defined elements and constraints display in red and a Warning message displays.

Resolve Over-Defined Sketches Using the Message

You can repair an over-defined sketch using the Resolve button in the warning message.

  1. Click Resolve in the Warning message.
    The Sketch Diagnostics dialog box opens.
  2. Review the list of solutions.

    Click the arrows to navigate through the list. Expand the More Info section to see the details of each solution.

  3. From the Constraints Options, select one of the following:
    • Delete Constraints: Deletes the conflicting constraint from an existing sketch.
    • Deactivate Constraints: Suppresses the constraint to make it less visible in the work area.
  4. Click
    The sketch is no longer over-defined.

Resolve Over-Defined Sketches Using the Context Menu

You can repair an over-defined sketch using Sketch Diagnostics in the context toolbar.

  1. Click a conflicting red constraint or dimension in the sketch and select Sketch Diagnostics from the context toolbar.
    The Sketch Diagnostics dialog box opens.
  2. Review the list of solutions.

    Click the arrows to navigate through the list. Expand the More Info section to see the details of each solution.

  3. From the Constraints Options, select one of the following:
    • Delete Constraints: Deletes the conflicting constraint from an existing sketch.
    • Deactivate Constraints: Suppresses the constraint to make it less visible in the work area.
  4. Click
    The sketch is no longer over-defined.
