Repeating Objects

The Objects Repetition command lets you create multiple instances of an existing geometric element in one operation.

Important: You can only use Objects Repetition for the following input elements:
  • Points on a curve
  • Lines at an angle
  • Lines normal to a curve
  • Planes at an angle created in Generative Shape Design
  • Offset planes created in Generative Shape Design
  • Offset surfaces created in Generative Shape Design

Moreover, planes and offset elements created in SOLIDWORKS apps cannot be used as input.

  1. In the work area, select a geometric element.
  2. In the Instances box, specify the number of instances to create.
  3. Under Repetition mode, select one of the following:
    • Absolute: The creation parameter of the selected geometric element (input feature) is used to create its instances.
    • Relative: The creation parameter of the selected geometric element (input feature) is used to create the first instance. Every subsequent instance uses the creation parameter of the previous instance for the repetition.

    Important: If you select a point on curve as input, Repetition mode options are not available.

    To define a Repetition mode to create several instances of a point, use the Points and Planes Repetition command.

  4. Optional: Select Create in a new body to add the instances in a new ordered geometrical set.

    By default, this option is selected.

  5. Validate .
    The instances of the selected geometric element are created.
