Opening Content Using Drag and Drop

You can open physical product or CAD family objects from 3DSpace or 3DSearch by dragging them into the work area. A Component dialog box opens.

This task shows you how to:

Opening Physical Products or CAD Family Objects from 3DSpace or 3DSearch Using Component Dialog Box

  1. Drag the physical product or CAD family object from the 3DSpace or 3DSearch into the work area.
  2. In the Component dialog box, in the Instances, enter the number of instances you want to insert in the work area.

    Note: If the content has configuration and revision in it, they are displayed under Settings.

  3. To open the content in the work area, do one of the following:

    • Click Open to open the content in the work area. This also closes anything else that may be open. This option is available only when you enter Instances as one.
    • Click Insert to insert the content into an existing assembly.

Inserting Multiple Content from 3DSearch

You can insert multiple content from 3DSearch in the work area.

  1. Ctrl-click the required content in 3DSearch and drag them to the work area.
  2. In the Component dialog box, use the arrows to browse through all the page thumbnails.
  3. In the Instances, enter the number of instances you want to insert in the work area.

    Note: If the content has configuration and revision in it, they are displayed under Settings.

  4. Click Insert All to insert all the selected content dragged from 3DSearch.

Dragging Content from One App to Another

You can drag an opened product or component from the tree into another compatible app.

  • From the physical product opened in the app, in the tree, select and drag the physical product to another compatible app.
