Transforming a Geometry by Affinity

You can apply affinity ratios to a geometry with respect to a reference axis system.

  1. From the Transform section of the action bar, click Affinity .
    The Affinity panel appears.
  2. Under Result, select one of the following options:
    • : the result of the transformation is a surface.
    • : the result of the transformation is a volume.

Important: This switch only applies to volumes as the transformation of a surface can only be a surface.

If you multiselect volumes and surfaces as inputs, the switch only affects volumes.

  3. In the work area, select the geometry to transform.
Note: You can select several geometries.
  4. Under Axis system, specify the inputs of the reference axis system:
    1. Select a point to define the origin of the axis system.
    2. Select a plane to define the XY plane of the axis system.
    3. Select a line to define the X axis of the axis system.
  5. Under Ratios, define the affinity ratios.
A preview of the transformed geometry appears. For example:
    Ratios:
    • X = 1
    • Y = 2
    • Z = 2

    Ratios:
    • X = 4
    • Y = 1
    • Z = 2
