Scaling a Geometry

You can transform a geometry by scaling it according to a reference element.

  1. From the Transform section of the action bar, click Scaling .
    The Scaling panel appears.
  2. Under Result, select one of the following options:
    • : the result of the transformation is a surface.
    • : the result of the transformation is a volume.

Important: This switch only applies to volumes as the transformation of a surface can only be a surface.

If you multiselect volumes and surfaces as inputs, the switch only affects volumes.

  3. In the work area, select the geometry to scale.

Note: You can select several geometries.

  4. Select the element to use as reference for the scaling.

The reference element can be a point, a plane, or a planar surface.

  5. In the Ratio box, define a scale factor by entering a value.
A preview of the scaled element appears. For example:
Scaling of a surface using a plane as reference Scaling of a surface using a point as reference
