Compare Results Using the Load Case Manager

You can view various designs based on different loads using the same restraints. The Load Case Manager allows you to turn loads on and off, as well as vary the load mass. Select load possibilities, compare the results, and choose the optimum design.

Before you begin: Load your initial geometry into the work area and apply your restraints.
  1. From the Design Guidance section of the action bar, add the load (forces, pressure, and torque) to your design.
    OptionDescription
Distributed - Distributes the load on the selected faces.
Point - Concentrates a force, applied at the face center of the selected faces.
Pressure - Applies force normal to the selected faces.
Torque - Applies a torque about an axis through the center of the selected faces.
  2. From the Design Guidance section of the action bar, click Load Case Manager .

All loads applied to the geometry in the action bar are listed in the Load Case Manager dialog box.

  3. Click the Include checkbox to add loads to the load case.
  4. Optional: Edit the mass using the arrows or typing in a value.

Note the load case number shown at the top of the Load Case column. This load case number is also displayed in the Design Manager and used to select load cases in the New Design and Redesign Settings tab. To rename the load case, click > Rename and type a new name, and press Enter.

  5. Optional: Click plus (+) to add load cases to the Load Case Manager.
Select the loads and edit the mass value for the new case load.
  6. Click to save your settings and close Load Case Manager dialog box.
  7. Click the New Design or Redesign to open the Design Guidance dialog box.
  8. Click the Settings tab and expand Load Cases.
  9. Select the Load Cases you want to analyze in the Design Guidance study.
