Creating a Regular Connection Assembly

Regular Connection Assembly lets you create a connection assembly.


Before you begin: Specify the Steel Connection PLM Modeling Definition resource in Data Setup.
  1. In the Regular Connection Assembly dialog box, enter a name for the connection assembly in the Name box.
  2. In the Input box, click and specify the input members.
    1. Click Add Input .
    2. In the Object cell, select a member from the tree or the 3D area.


  3. In the Components box, click and specify the connection components.
    1. Click Add Component or , and select a component from a catalog or a library.
    2. Optional: Edit the component, if required. To do so, select the object cell, click , and select Edit Component .
    3. Optional: Edit the position of connection plate and hole components. To do so, select the object cell, click , and select Edit Position .
    4. Optional: Modify the public parameters of the components using the Parameter Editor command available in the toolbox.
    5. For connection weld and hole components, specify the elements connected by them.
  4. Click OK.


  5. Add the connection assembly (root product) to a catalog or a library.

Tip: You can also create a new connection assembly using an already existing assembly. Click Search Catalog or Search Library to search a catalog or a library, and select an existing assembly from it.

All the boxes are filled automatically with the inputs and components of the selected assembly. You can modify the inputs and components, as required for the new assembly.
