Creating a Connection Plate Component

Connection Plate lets you create a connection plate component.

Before you begin: Specify the Steel Connection PLM Modeling Definition resource in Data Setup.
  1. In the Connection Plate dialog box, specify the name of the plate.
  2. Click Search Material to search and apply a material to the plate.
  3. Click Sketcher to sketch a contour for the plate.

The contour must be closed and properly constrained.

  4. Under Parameters,
    1. Specify the value of the Thickness parameter.

Note: Thickness is a mandatory parameter, and it is created by default.

    2. Click Add Parameter to create additional parameters, such as width, length, and height.

On the parameters, define formulas with the dimension constraints of the sketch.

    3. Under the Expose column, set the parameter visibility as Public or Private. The public parameters will be visible and editable in the Parameter Editor dialog box, while creating and instantiating a connection assembly.
  5. Click OK.

Tip: You can also create a new connection plate using an existing plate. Click Search Catalog or Search Library to search a catalog or library, and select an existing plate from it.

All the boxes are filled automatically with the inputs and parameters of the selected plate. You can modify the inputs and parameters, as required for the new plate.
