About Allocation Assistant Panel

The Allocation Assistant helps you to manage allocations between a system component and a component volume.

This page discusses:

Allocation Rules

The creation or the edition of an allocation connection is based on the following rules:

  • A system element (logical component, logical interface, and logical port) can be allocated to only one 3D element (component volume, pathway connection point).
  • A system port or interface can be allocated to a 3D port only if its parent system component is already allocated to the 3D component containing the pathway connection point.
  • If you remove an allocation between a system component and a 3D component, all allocations between the system interface belonging to that system component are also removed.
  • The allocation connection can be aggregated only inside the product reference containing the 3D component (directly or indirectly).

Selection Modes

The command has two modes based on the selected component:

  • Selection of a system component or a logical system
  • Selection of a component volume or a product

Selection of a Logical System or Component

If you select a logical system or a logical component, the system context is computed from the first selected system element. If the selections belong to multiple system or logical contexts, they are forbidden or ignored.

The Allocation Assistant panel displays the following columns:

  • System Elements: Hierarchical view of the allocable system components and their interfaces.
  • Allocated Volume: Allocated 3D components and their interfaces.
  • Allocation Context : 3D context inside which allocation connections are created.

Selection of 3D Components or Product

If you select a 3D component or a product, the system context is computed as follows:

  • If only one logical root is opened, it is used as system context.
  • If multiple logical roots are opened, you need to select manually the context.

The panel displays the allocations for allocable 3D components and their ports if any. It only shows the allocations with system elements, which belong to the system context.

The Allocation Assistant panel displays the following columns:

  • Component Volume: Hierarchical view of the allocable 3D components and their interfaces.
  • Allocated System Element: Allocated system components and their interfaces for each 3D component and their interfaces.
  • Allocation Context : 3D context inside which allocation connections are created.

Delete Allocation

Clicking Delete allows you to delete an allocation for a given element the following way:

  • The Sys3D_ValidateAllocation business rule opening is executed for the involved system and 3D elements with ActionID=Deletion.
  • If the business rule validates the deletion, the allocation is deleted and the table is updated.
