Managing Laminates

You can add new laminates, either in the session or outside 3DEXPERIENCE.

This task shows you how to:

Define Laminates

  1. From the Material section of the action bar, click Material Parameters .
  2. In the Laminates tab, click Insert Blank Row .

    Notes:
    • If you select a line before clicking Insert Blank Row , the laminate is created before the selected line. If no line is selected, the laminate is created at the end of the table.
    • The command is available in the context menu of the orientation.

  3. Optional: Edit the proposed name and a color.
  4. To define the laminate as a stacking sequence:
    1. Select Stacking sequence
It defines precisely the stacking as an up-down ordered list of layers.
    2. Create a material by clicking Insert Blank Row , selecting a layer in the Laminate dialog box, and clicking OK.
    3. You can manage the layers using the Row Edition , Remove Row, Move Row Up , Move Row Down commands.
  5. To define the laminate as a thickness law:
    1. Select Thickness law.
It defines the number of layers for each couple of material/direction used.
    2. To add a line in the thickness law, click Insert Blank Row .
    3. For each direction, enter the number of layers.

Note: You can also use the spinner to define the number of layers.

    4. You can manage the layers using the Row Edition , Remove Row commands.
  6. To define the laminate as a thickness ratio:
    1. Select Thickness ratio.
For a given thickness, it defines the ratio of each orientation for the different materials.
    2. In the Reference Thickness box, enter the targeted thickness.

      Notes: About the Filling Ratio:
      • The Filling Ratio box displays the computed thickness law related to the targeted thickness. You cannot modify this value.
      • The 100% may not be exactly reachable as each ply has a given thickness (depending on the material). Only possible thickness is a multiple of a pli thickness. It is the reason why valid percentage are 100% or more.

    3. For each direction, enter the percentage.

Note: You can also use the spinner to define the number of layers.

    4. You can manage the layers using the Row Edition , Remove Row commands.
  7. To manage exiting laminates, select a laminate and use one of the following commands:
    1. To change the order of the laminates values, use Move Row Up and Move Row Down .
    2. To edit a laminate, click Row Edition .
    3. To delete a laminate, click Remove Row .
    4. To duplicate an existing laminate, click Duplicate Row .

Note: These commands are also available from the context menu of the rosettes.

  8. Click OK to validate and revert to the Material Parameters dialog box.
    Laminate information is listed:
    • Order
    • Name
    • Color
    • Type: TL for thickness law, TR for thickness ratio, SS for stacking sequence
    • Thickness
    • Used ?
    • Description
