Moving Annotations

You can move, drag, and change the positions of annotations, and also rotate the annotation boxes. Moving and orienting annotations helps to prevent overlapping of annotations.

Note: For touch devices, drag handles (large dots) are available for moving or dragging the annotations.


Before you begin: Open a model with 3D views and annotations.
  1. Activate a 3D view from the tree.
  2. Select an annotation and drag it.

    The following table describes the movements possible for each annotation.

    Dimension (Lineal) Following movements are possible:
    • Drag one or both extremes of dimension. To drag both extremes at the same time, select one of the extremes, press Ctrl and drag( For touch devices, you can long press and drag).
    • Align both the extremes of dimension by moving one of the them close to the projection of the other dimension by snapping them.
    • Drag and change the position of the text along the edge. You can also rotate, change the size, and position of the text by clicking it.
    Note Drag and change the position of the note along the edge. You can also rotate, change the size, and position of the box by clicking it.
    Balloon Move, drag, and change the position of the balloon. You can also rotate it.
    Datum Move, drag, and change the position of the datum. You can also rotate it.
    Datum Target Move, drag, and change the position of the datum target. You can also rotate it.
    Tolerance Move, drag, and change the position of the tolerance. You can also rotate it.
    Surface Finish Move, drag, and change the position of the surface finish. You can also rotate the box.
    The selected annotations are moved and its orientations are changed.
  3. Click the Tab key to move the plane of annotation.

    For touch devices, you can change the plane using the icon that appears when adding an annotation.
