Searching and Opening Data

You can search and open different types of documents from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform in CATIA V5.

Before you begin: Start CATIA V5, and connect to the 3DEXPERIENCE server.

  1. In the CATIA V5 toolbar, select 3DEXPERIENCE > Open.

    The Open dialog box contains a search bar.

  2. In the search bar, enter a search string and press Enter.
    The 3DSearch results display the documents you can open.

    You can visualize your data by launching 3DPlay from an object selected in the search results. You can access this command from the 3DEXPERIENCE side panel and 3DEXPERIENCE Open dialog box.

    Note: You can search for a physical product, a 3DShape, drawing, or non-product structure (PS) representations.
  3. From the search results, select a document.
  4. Click OK.

    The selected document opens as a root in CATIA V5. When you open a document, the system automatically includes the required additional files. As a result, all required data is available locally in CATIA V5.

    Important:
    • You can select the With Revision Update check box to open the updated revision of the document.
    • You can search for a filter object in the search bar, and open it in CATIA V5.
