Accessing the 3DEXPERIENCE platform

You can access the 3DEXPERIENCE platform only if you log in as a user with one of the roles defined in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Activate the CATIA V5 PowerBy 3DEXPERIENCE integration mode.

Connect from CATIA V5

You can access the 3DEXPERIENCE platform from CATIA V5.

  1. In the CATIA toolbar, select 3DEXPERIENCE > Connect.

    OR

    In the 3DEXPERIENCE platform toolbar, click Connect.

    Note: CATIA V5 connects to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform automatically if an active session exists. To connect using another user, you must log out, and log in again.
  2. Enter your User Name and Password, and click OK.

    An error message appears in the Login page if you have entered an invalid entry.

  3. In the Credentials dialog box, select an option.

    If your business administrator has assigned you preferred credentials, or you have logged in before, you can skip this step. You can change your credentials if needed.

    The Credentials dialog box has the following sections:

    Organization: The list contains company, business unit, or other organizations that you are associated with.

    Collaborative Space: The list of collaboration spaces that you have access to. A collaborative space is a workspace that contains objects related to a People and Organization project. For example, within the context of a specific project, you can have one collaboration space for Marketing, and another for Engineering.

    Role: The list of roles assigned to you.

  4. Click OK to log in to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
    You are logged in to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The status of the documents open in CATIA is retrieved from the server, and displayed in the CATIA tree. To check whether your login is successful, click 3DEXPERIENCE platform from the CATIA toolbar; the Disconnect option must be enabled.
  5. To log out of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform:
    • In the CATIA toolbar, select 3DEXPERIENCE > Disconnect.
    • In the 3DEXPERIENCE platform toolbar, click Disconnect.

      Note: For cloud, Connect/Disconnect operations are not required.

Login from Web

You can access the 3DEXPERIENCE platform from the web or from the 3DEXPERIENCE shortcut (created from the dashboard).

  1. In the web, enter your username and password.
  2. Click OK.

    • While logging in from web, the client is automatically launched and connected by reusing the web credentials. Only the Design with CATIA V5 session initiated from the web will be compatible (the existing sessions are not compatible).
    • The connect/disconnect buttons are not available when you log in from the web/3DEXPERIENCE shortcut.

      Logging in from the web depends on the ‘registered CATIA V5’. If you have several setups, only one will be taken into account when you connect from web.

Access from Start Menu

You can access the 3DEXPERIENCE platform from the Start menu.

  1. From the Start menu, select 3DEXPERIENCE platform
  2. To remove this command from the Start menu, you must clear the Show access to 3DEXPERIENCE platform option in Tools > Options > General > Compatibility > 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Use My Credentials

You can use My Credentials to view the credentials information. This command is available in the CATIA V5 status bar and it appears only when we are connected to 3DEXPERIENCE.

  1. Click Display My Credentials in the CATIA V5 toolbar to view the credentials information (organization, collaborative space, role). "Tenant" is displayed in My Credentials only if you have connected to a 3DEXPERIENCE cloud. When you disconnect from the 3DEXPERIENCE server this button is removed from the CATIA V5 toolbar.
    You can switch between different security contexts without closing or restarting your app. Click Apply in the My Credentials dialog box to implement your changes.

    Go to Dashboard: Click this button to navigate to the dashboard home page (launches an external browser).

  2. To close the My Credentials dialog box:
    • Click Close in the My Credentials dialog box.
    • Click (again) the My Credentials button in the CATIA V5 toolbar.
      Important: You can define the registry key for your users: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dassault Systemes\xCAD_Connectors. The key has two string values:
      • Address: The server URL. For example, https://hostname/3DSpace.
      • Tenant: The tenant ID. For example, OnPremise.
