Cadence Allegro Options

This section discusses available settings that you can configure.

This page discusses:

General Options

The CAD Tools can also be used to create Manufacturing Variants in a Design. In case that the Manufacturing Variants are created, the Connector will honor this setting and display the variant information under various screens.

Attribute Description
Part Number Mapping The Part Number Mapping attribute holds the 3DEXPERIENCE part number.

Variants Option

The CAD Tools can also be used to create Manufacturing Variants in a Design. In case that the Manufacturing Variants are created, the Connector will honor this setting and display the variant information under various screens.

Attribute Description
Enable Variant Support Enabling this check box enables the variants present in the design. The variants settings will not be considered when this check box is cleared. If this setting is cleared, no variants of the design will be handled by the connector during check-in.

IDF Option

This IDF export setting is just the replacement of the settings from the Allegro PCB Design tool. For more information, see the Allegro PCB Design User's Manual.

Attribute Description
File Name Type This setting specifies the name of the mechanical system. The following file name types can be selected:
  • IDF (default value)
  • SDRC
  • PTC
IDF Version This setting specifies the IDF version. Values can be either 2.0 or 3.0. Default value is 3.0.
Source Identification This setting specifies the string for source system identification that will appear in the HEADER section of the IDF file. The default value is CadenceAllegro.
Default Package Height This setting specifies the height of the components to be assumed, whose height is otherwise not stated in the input board/substrate. The default value is 0.0.
Use existing Filter This setting specifies the configuration file to be used for filtering out design information. No specific extension name is required. The filter is named FilterOut.config and is found in the folder rather than the layout.

Forward Annotation Option

This annotation setting is just the replacement of the settings from Cadence Allegro. For more information, see the Cadence Allegro User's Guide.

Attribute Description
Enable Annotation for checkin The enable Annotation for checkin check box controls the behavior if it is possible to check in the Annotation or not. If the check box is selected, the Forward and the Backward Annotation can be stored to 3DEXPERIENCE. The Annotations are displayed in the Save to 3DEXPERIENCE dialog and the Annotations settings in Preferences are enabled.
Ask User If this check box is selected, the Selected Packaging Flow dialog opens and you can select, during the save process, which forward annotation behavior is required. If this check box is not selected automatically, the configured behavior is used.
Select Packaging Flow If the Ask User Flow check box is not selected, you can choose the behavior of the forward annotation:
  • Manually selected packager files

Opens the packager file dialog without running the Packager-XL tool. In this dialog, you can select the packager files and click OK to save the selected files to 3DEXPERIENCE

  • Run Packager and select packager files

Opens the Packager-XL tool from Cadence. After execution of the Packager-XL tool from Cadence, a dialog opens where you can select which forward annotation files need to be saved into 3DEXPERIENCE. Click OK to save the packer files to 3DEXPERIENCE.

  • Run auto creation of packer files

Packager files are automatically created and saved to 3DEXPERIENCE.

Backward Annotation Option

This annotation setting is just the replacement of the settings from Cadence Allegro. For more information, see the Cadence Allegro User's Manual.

Attribute Description
Enable Annotation for check-in The enable Annotation for checkin check box controls the behavior if it is possible to check in the Annotation or not. If the check box is selected, the Forward and the Backward Annotation can be stored to 3DEXPERIENCE. The Annotations are displayed in the Save to 3DEXPERIENCE dialog and the Annotation settings in Preferences are enabled.
Ask User If this check box is selected, the Selected Packaging Flow dialog comes up where the user can select during the save process that forward annotation behavior is required. If this check box is not selected automatically, the configured behavior is used.
Select Packaging If the Ask User check box is not selected, you can choose the behavior of the Backward Annotation:
  • Manually select packager files

Opens directly to the packager file dialog without running the Packager-XL tool. In this dialog, you can select the packager files by clicking OK to save the selected files to 3DEXPERIENCE.

  • Run auto creation of packer files

Packager files are automatically created and saved to 3DEXPERIENCE.

PTF Option

These settings are for the Part Table File (PTF) which Component Data Management uses. For detailed information, see the Part Table Editor User Guide.

Attribute Description
Number of PTF Backups This option can specify the number of backup files to be created if the existing PTF is modified.
Attribute default value The value in this field will be used as a default value for the attributes that do not have a defined value.
Use PTF Key Attribute Definition If this setting is selected, the definition of the attribute is directly used from the PTF; otherwise, it is taken from the mapping. In case the PTF does not exist, the definition will be always taken from the mapping.
Allow part deletion in PTF If the check box of these settings is selected, existing parts in PTF can be deleted during part synchronization. If not selected, existing parts in PTF cannot be deleted.
Replace Part Type If this setting is selected, the complete part type will be recreated. Any unsynchronized part will be removed from the PTF.
Update Part Type

If this setting is selected, the part type will be updated. Any unsynchronized part will not be removed from the PTF. You have the possibility when this option is selected:

  • Update Part - Updates the existing part and attributes of the part will be updated with new values, but no attributes will be removed from the part.
  • Replace Part - Replaces the existing part and only attributes that are defined in the mapping will be written. All unmapped attributes will be removed from the part.
