Searching for Documents

You can search for CAD objects and documents stored in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

  1. Open the Search dialog box.

    You can start the search from these locations:

    • From the Open from 3DEXPERIENCE dialog box, use the General Search tab.

  2. To use an existing query, click Queries. You can start entering the name of the query to filter the list. Select the required query and click Open.
  3. Enter search criteria in any of the fields. If you opened a query, you can further refine the search by entering additional search criteria.

    Criteria Options Description
    Type Select browse in the type field to choose the type of object you are searching for.
    Name Enter of name of the design. It also accepts a wild-card character (*), which will return all the CAD objects with that criteria.
    Case Sensitive You can search for a name based on case. This check box determines whether the search will be case-sensitive or not.
    RevisionThe connector returns all CAD objects belonging to the specific revision that is chosen.
    Latest RevisionThis check box is used to return all the latest revisions of the objects in 3DEXPERIENCE. When this check box is cleared, the Revision text field is disabled.
    OwnerYou can specify the name of a particular user. This will search for all CAD objects owned by that user. You can also conduct a search based on four different criteria.

    User NameMultiple entries are allowed, which are entered using a comma to separate entries. A wild-card character returns all the available users in 3DEXPERIENCE.
    First NameMultiple entries are not allowed. A wild-card character returns all the available users in 3DEXPERIENCE.
    Last NameMultiple entries are not allowed, but wild card (*) entries are allowed.
    OrganizationMultiple entries are allowed using a comma to separate the various entries. A wild card (*) entry results in all those organizations in 3DEXPERIENCE based on that search criteria.

    VaultYou can specify the vaults using the browser to search for all designs in the specified vault.
    StateYou can search for the objects based on the states of the object; namely, Release, Approved, Review, and Preliminary.
    Search LimitYou can restrict the number of results to be returned using the Search Limit field. Client Connector returns the number of objects specified in the search limit.

  4. Click Search.
    The app loads the objects that meet the search criteria. You can continue to refine the search criteria and click Search until you find the required object.
  5. To change the columns shown in the results table, select an item from the View list and click View.
  6. To save the search criteria as a query for future use, click Queries. Enter a name for your query and click Save.
  7. To assign a PCB document to the Bareboard document, select it and click Assign.
