Managing My Workspace

You can create and manage a workspace directly from the Client Connector.

The access permission for the created workspace needs to be configured in 3DEXPERIENCE. It is not available from the connector.

This task shows you how to:

Searching for a Workspace

You can create a workspace in 3DEXPERIENCE directly from the Client Connector.

  1. Click Search to retrieve any workspace in 3DEXPERIENCE.
  2. Expand the tree of the workspace to browse through the design documents under each workspace.

    Note: You can perform similar operations like the one in the General search using the context menu on the CAD object.

Creating a Workspace

You can create a workspace in 3DEXPERIENCE directly from the Client Connector.

  1. Click Create new Workspace.
  2. Specify a name for the workspace.

    The workspace name is unique so when you try to create a workspace with the same name as the existing one, an error is given.

  3. Specify a description for the workspace.
  4. Click OK to create the workspace in3DEXPERIENCE.
    The workspace is created with the specified name and for the current user.
  5. Click Cancel to end the workspace creation process and to close the dialog.

The created workspace is returned to the My Workspace search dialog.

Adding to a Workspace

You can assign a CAD Model to an existing workspace folder.

  1. Open the Workspace Folder Selection dialog box.
  2. Select the desired workspace folder and click OK.

    Note: CAD Models can be assigned to multiple workspace folders, but you can select only one at a time.

  3. (Optional) Select Cancel if you choose to end the assignment.

This action returns you to the Save to 3DEXPERIENCE dialog box.

Creating a Workspace Folder

You can create a workspace or folder once the workspace is created using the context menu. Multiple folders and subfolders can be created under a workspace.

  1. Click the Create new Workspace/-Folder in the context menu.
  2. Specify a name for the workspace or folder.
  3. Specify a description for the workspace or folder.
  4. Click OK to create the workspace or folder under the selected workspace in 3DEXPERIENCE.
    The workspace or folder is created with the specified name and for the current user.

The created workspace folder is returned to the My Workspace search under the selected workspace.

Renaming a Workspace or Folder

You can rename an existing workspace or folder.

  1. Click Rename in the context menu to open a dialog for specifying a new name for a workspace or folder.
  2. Click OK to save the new workspace or folder name in 3DEXPERIENCE. The updated name is displayed under My Workspace.
  3. Select Cancel to end the renaming operation and to close the dialog.

The renamed workspace or folder is returned to the My Workspace search under the selected workspace.

Deleting a Workspace or Folder

You can delete an existing workspace, folder, or all folders underneath in 3DEXPERIENCE.

  1. Click the Delete Workspace/-Folder in the context menu.
    The confirmation dialog appears.
  2. Click either yes or no to finish the deletion command.
    • To delete a workspace and all folders underneath 3DEXPERIENCE, click Yes.
    • To end the delete command, click No.

The workspace or folder is deleted.

Removing All CAD Models from Folder

This menu is used to remove all the CAD Models existing in a selected folder from either just the workspace or both the workspace and database.

  1. Click the Remove all CAD Models from Folder in the context menu.

    Note: It does not consider the CAD Models present in the subfolders.

    The confirmation dialog appears.
  2. Click either Yes or No to complete the command.
    • To remove a CAD model from a selected folder, click Yes.
    • To end the remove operation, click No and you will return to the previous dialog box.
  3. In My Workspace view, you have two choices.
    • Remove the selections from the folder, but leave them in the database.

      The CAD Models are removed only from the current workspace, but the same CAD Models located in a different workspace or folder are not removed.

    • Remove the selections permanently from the database.

      This operation cannot be undone.

Moving a Folder

You can move a folder from one folder to another in the same workspace or from one folder to another in a different workspace.

  1. From the context menu, select the Workspace Folder Selection menu.
    In the opened dialog box, you can select the target Workspace/Folder.
  2. Click OK.
    This action moves the selected folder, along with its subfolders, to the selected target. Also, it moves all the CAD Models existing in the folder and subfolders to the new location.

The folder and it contents is moved to a new folder or workspace.
