About Outlets

Outlets specify the openings where fluid flows out of a region to the surroundings.

Defining a Pressure Outlet

The following types of outlets are available, and they provide different methods for describing the velocity or pressure with which fluid flows out of a region.

  • Pressure outlets describe the static pressure at an opening where fluid flows out of a region.
  • Mass flow split outlets describe the proportion of mass flowing out of each outlet in the simulation. If you create two mass flow split outlets with weights specified as 2 and 1, twice as much mass flows out of the first outlet as the second.

Define at least one outlet for your simulation. In addition, you must use one type of outlet exclusively; you cannot define both pressure outlets and mass flow split outlets in the same simulation.

When you define a pressure outlet, you can describe where the opening is and the static pressure at that opening.
