Matching Surfaces

You can create a match feature to connect a subdivision surface with inlets and outlets and keep the associativity between the match feature and inlets or outlets.

Before you begin: Open an existing 3D shape.
  1. From the Surface design section of the action bar, click Match .
  2. Select the surface to match with the target.
  3. Define the target.

You can click Add target to add a new target.

  4. Select the geometry type.
    OptionDescription
Curve Select a curve as the target.
Boundary from surface Select a surface, the target is the boundary of this surface.
Surface Select a surface as the target.
Plane Select a plane as the target.
  5. Select the associated geometry.
  6. Select the continuity to apply between the match feature and the current target.
    OptionDescription
Point The match feature is locally connected to the target.
Tangency The match feature is locally connected to the target and tangent to the support.
Normal The match feature is locally connected and normal to the target. This continuity is available if you have chosen Surface or Plane as the geometry type.
  7. If you have defined a tangency continuity, select the support.
  8. Optional: Select limits for the geometry target.
  9. Optional: Click Federate all faces to specify whether all faces are federated.
