Translating Geometry

Translate lets you translate point, line or surface elements along a vector.

Note: The original element is preserved.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Create a 3D shape containing a geometric element.

Translate Along a Direction and a Distance

You can translate the element by specifying a direction and defining a distance.

  1. Select Direction, distance .
  2. In the Element box, select the elements to be translated.
  3. In the Direction box, use the context menu to define the translation direction.
    • Specify X, Y, Z vector components.
    • Select a line to take its orientation as the translation direction.
    • Select a plane to take its normal as the translation direction.
  4. In the Distance box, type the value or use arrows to change the value of translation distance.
  5. Click OK.

Translate Using Two Points
