Creating an Extrusion

You can create an extrusion where the fibers of a layer are pulled through another layer, creating a fleecy surface. As with the mechanical bond, the extrusion process links the layers together.

  1. From the Model section of the action bar, click Extrusion .
  2. Optional: Replace the default name Extrusion.n with a more significant one.
  3. Define the Area by a sketch or a symmetry.

For more information on working with the Sketcher, see 3D Modeling Core: Sketcher.

  4. Define the Geometries to extrude.
    • Either create a sketch.

For more information on working with the Sketcher, see 3D Modeling Core: Sketcher.

    • Or create a pattern from a predefined empty sketch. The geometry is aggregated under the layer, inside a dedicated node.

For more information on creating patterns, see Patterning.

    • Layer
    • Or create a symmetry.
  5. Select a layer or an elastic layer as the Pulled Layer.
  6. Select a layer or an elastic layer as the Last Perforated Layer.

The extrusion is created with the color of the Pulled Layer

  7. If you have selected the same layer as Pulled Layer and Last Perforated Layer, specify the direction as Ascending or Descending.
  8. Specify the Extrusion height.
