An ellipse has the following components:

  1. Center point
  2. Major axis
  3. Minor axis
  4. Elliptical curve
  5. Control points at the end of axes

You can:

  • Sketch an ellipse as a closed object.
  • Trim an existing ellipse to make it an open object.
  • Control the orientation and sizing of an ellipse using the control points and axes.
  • Apply constraints and dimensions to an ellipse.
  • Split, trim, or delete an ellipse curve or axes.
  • Move an ellipse by selecting a center point and dragging it.
  • Resize or rotate the ellipse by selecting and then dragging an elliptical curve.
  • Convert an external ellipse to create an elliptical sketch entity.
Note: The control points and axes become visible if you remove the On Edge constraint of the converted ellipse. If you project a circle on an inclined plane, the resultant shape is an ellipse.
